Riyadh Municipality Approves New Regulations for Urban Planning Schemes

Riyadh Municipality, in cooperation with the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, has approved new regulations for the development of urban planning schemes in Riyadh.

In a post on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the Municipality stated that the new regulations require real estate developers to complete all infrastructure and public space elements before starting construction.

The regulations cover essential works such as asphalting, electricity, water, sewage, stormwater drainage, park development, lighting, internet access, landscaping, public spaces, street planning and paving, sidewalks, pedestrian and bicycle paths, and street name signage.

The Municipality explained that these regulations aim to enhance the quality of infrastructure and services, ensure the delivery of services before construction begins, reduce repeated excavation works, promote human-centered urban design, and provide vibrant public spaces.

The target groups for these regulations include engineering offices and real estate development entities.
